Mens Sarung in Corpore Sano — exhibition poster showing a green sarong bundled and knotted like a bag

Mens Sarung in Corpore Sano

Solo Exhibition by Abdi Karya

“Growing up with a father who was a sports instructor, and a mother and grandmother who wove Bugis sarongs, I found an unexpected connection between the gym and the loom. The performativity of both produces a body that is repetitive and full of rhythm.

In this exhibition, gym equipment meets the construction of the traditional loom. Visitors are invited to experience the shaping of the physical body and of the second body — clothing, the sarong — at the same time. Movements such as pulling, lifting, pressing and swinging: here the act of exercise transforms into the motion of weaving, through works deliberately designed to be activated.”

— Abdi Karya

Take It Lightly Mate — exhibition poster by Arwin Hidayat

Take It Lightly Mate

Solo Exhibition by Arwin Hidayat

Working through an intuitive visual language, Arwin constructs a world inhabited by hybrid figures, playful gestures, and imagined creatures. Balancing humor with subtle tension, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider the ordinary through forms that are both familiar and strange.

Rather than seeking certainty, Take It Lightly Mate embraces ambiguity, encouraging us to encounter the unexpected with curiosity—and perhaps, to take things a little more lightly.
